1. Plagiarism Screening Policy

INSPIRE: Journal of Multidisciplinary Research and Perspectives is committed to maintaining academic integrity, originality, and responsible scholarly communication. All submitted manuscripts are subject to plagiarism and similarity screening before proceeding through the editorial and peer review process.

Similarity screening is conducted using an appropriate plagiarism-detection or similarity-checking tool. The similarity report is reviewed by the editorial team to identify inappropriate textual overlap, unattributed content, duplicate publication, or other potential concerns relating to originality.

2. Similarity Threshold

INSPIRE applies the following similarity thresholds as an editorial screening guideline:

Similarity Status Editorial Action
≤ 20% Acceptable May proceed to editorial assessment and peer review, subject to the results of the overall screening.
21–30% Revision Required The manuscript may be returned to the author for revision and clarification of identified similarities.
31–40% Major Revision The manuscript is returned for substantial revision and may undergo similarity screening again.
> 40% Not Acceptable The manuscript may be rejected due to a high level of similarity.
Important Note on Similarity Results

The similarity percentage is not the sole basis for determining plagiarism. The editorial team examines the sources, location, nature, and context of the identified similarities before making an editorial decision. Properly cited quotations, references, standard terminology, methodological expressions, institutional names, and other legitimate academic expressions may contribute to the similarity score without constituting plagiarism.

3. Plagiarism Screening Process

 Initial Screening
Every submitted manuscript undergoes an initial similarity screening before further editorial processing.

 Similarity Analysis
The editorial team reviews the similarity report and identifies the sources and sections contributing to the reported similarity.

 Editorial Assessment
The similarity result is assessed together with the manuscript's citations, references, methodology, and overall originality.

 Editorial Decision
The manuscript may proceed, require revision, undergo further screening, or be rejected depending on the findings of the assessment.
4. Author Responsibilities
  • Submit original work that has not been plagiarized or improperly reproduced.
  • Properly cite and acknowledge all sources used in the manuscript.
  • Use quotation marks and appropriate citations for directly quoted material.
  • Ensure that paraphrased ideas are appropriately attributed to their original sources.
  • Disclose substantial overlap with the authors' previous publications where relevant.
  • Revise the manuscript when requested to address inappropriate similarities.
5. Similarities Considered During Screening
Textual Similarity
Similar or identical wording appearing in other published or publicly available sources.
Unattributed Content
Ideas, statements, or materials reproduced without appropriate acknowledgment.
Duplicate Publication
Substantial reuse of previously published material without appropriate disclosure.
Self-Plagiarism
Reuse of substantial portions of an author's previous work without proper attribution or disclosure.
